Many of these context-sensitive studies of
change identify and analyse specific, micro-level
instances of discursive action and then locate
them in the context of other macro-level, ‘meta’
or ‘grand’ discourses that exist within or external
to the organization (Alvesson and Ka¨ rreman,
2000; O’Conner, 2000). They also recognize that
‘discourses are always connected to other discourses
which were produced earlier, as well
as those which are produced synchronically
and subsequently’ (Fairclough and Wodak,
1997, p. 276).
