Cd is toxic to a number of tissues. Acute Cd poisoning causes
pulmonary edema, hemorrhage, fulminate hepatitis, testicular injury,
and lethality; whereas prolonged exposure to Cd produces nephrotoxicity,
osteotoxicity, and immunotoxicity Cd is also classified by IARC as a human carcinogen causing
tumors of the lung, prostate, injection site, and other tissues
