The common measures committee’s search of STEM education
literature found that pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) studies
are most prevalent in technology, mathematics, and science
education literature. An analysis of the available literature
revealed a lack of a consistent PCK definition even within a single
discipline (Park & Oliver, 2008), but also revealed some common
trends in definitions, which informed the creation of a STEM PCK
construct definition. The STEM Pedagogical Content Knowledge
construct definition is composed of three parts:
