Vi?!" "Vi!" Caitlyn cried out as she came running towards her
Vi was sat down, her blood smeared across the wall. Her powerless Hextech gauntlets was laid broken on the floor. There was a single shot on her abdomen, the likes of which can kill an ordinary person easily. But Vi wasn't ordinary, she fought on, trying to fight through the pain.
"C-Caitlyn? Is that you?" said Vi as her vision started to blur
As Caitlyn got close, she tossed away her rifle and her hat. She knelt close to her, gripping on both of her arms. She examined her, noticing the shot quickly.
"You've been shot! I'm calling the medics!" Caitlyn took out a mechanism out of her belt and tried
to call the local medical facility but was stopped when Vi suddenly grabbed her arm
"There's no time, Cait. W-with this rain, they're not going to g-get here till later."
"We have to try!" Caitlyn said with a look of determination engraved on her face
She began to use the mechanism again, this time, successfully calling the local medical facility.
"H-hello? M.D.? I need a team of medics on my level. We have an officer down, I repeat, we have an officer down! She needs immediate medical assistance-!"
Vi coughs up blood, which splatters across Caitlyn's chest.
"Oh no. Oh no! Just hold on Vi! Hold on! They will be here!" back on the mechanism again "Please! We need it right now! She's dying! She's-!"
"C-Cait." Vi said as she is trying to catch her attention "C-Caitlyn."
Using all her strength, she reaches for the mechanism and slams it down to the ground. Caitlyn, shocked, did not know what to do. Now lying on the cold floor, Vi clenched her fist and sent it down towards the mechanism's direction, repeating it over and over until it broke. Her cries of pain and anger filled the air.
"VI! WHAT ARE YOU-?! STOP! VI! NO!" Caitlyn said as she tried to pry her away from it
The mechanism is broken, all hope for communication is lost. Caitlyn, for the first time on her life, did not know what to do. Vi, still on the ground with an outstretched hand, started crying. It was perfect; the rain hid her tears. Caitlyn lifted her up and set her back on the wall again.
"Why? WHY DID YOU DO IT?!" Caitlyn shouted as tears fell down on her face
"Th-there is no time, Cait. Even if they do make it, I would have died by then."
"Don't say that! You're going to live on, just, stay with me. Please."
vi looked up into the sky, the droplets of rain falling down on her face. She closed her eyes and began to chuckle. Caitlyn, still don't know what to do, started looking at her, puzzled.
"What's so funny?" she asked
"I, I just haven't seen you cry before. It's funny now, looking at it."
Caitlyn had a short chuckle and wiped her tears with her arms.
"Hold my hand." Vi said to her
Immediately, Caitlyn outstretched her arm and held her hand as tight as she could.
"All my life, I have never cared for anything else. Up until now. Caitlyn, I am sorry. I couldn't stop him. I thought I could. But there was something... monstrous about him, but elegant at the same time. He-he was fast, like a blur. Precise, d-deadly, but somehow, I felt better when he took the shot. I-I don't know why."
"Don't say things like that!" Caitlyn exclaimed "Please!"
Vi felt the pain of her injury. It was a different magnitude of pain, as if she was being tormented internally. But she fought on. Caitlyn helped her through the pain by trying to calm her down. After a short interval, the pain was minimal again.
"Caitlyn... fight on for me. Promise me."
"I p-promise."
"If you see him, get back up, immediately. You can't take him alone."
Suddenly, sirens are heard in the distance.
"They're here! They're here! Oh, Vi! Please, just hold on! Just a little more."
"It's an illusion, Caitlyn. They're farther than you think."
"No! They're here! I know they are!" Caitlyn looks towards the direction of the siren noise
"Caitlyn." Vi said as she tilted her head back to hers
She smiled at her while Caitlyn returned an expression of utmost sadness. She looked down to her pocket, a long lump was protruding out of it. Caitlyn recognized the gesture and grabbed a cigar out of it. Vi lifted her hand up with the strength that she had left. It hurt her, but for a satisfying death, it had to be done. Caitlyn put the cigar on her outstretched hand. With a lighter that she's been carrying in her pouch, she lit it up. Vi puffed a smoke and felt her last cigar run through her entire system.
"Perfect." she said
Her hand slowly died down. Her eyes started to close. Her mouth, despite on the brink of death, managed to make a smile. She was in peace now. Caitlyn, realizing that she could not do anything anymore, decided to stand up and give her a salute in the grim rain. She knelt down again and gave her one final hug to follow her to the beyond. Her cigar slowly rolled away from her, later extinguished by the rain. Caitlyn sat there with her for hours. She did not care for the rain, for anything. Then, the familiar sound of sirens got closer and closer. They got to this scene, most were horrified at the sight of Vi's corpse sitting in the open. They tried to pull Caitlyn away, but she kept holding on tight. They constructed a tent for the both of them to keep them away from the rain until she was ready for them to take Vi away. A few moments later, she got up, enraged at the man who murdered her in cold blood.
"Who did this to her?" a fellow lieutenant asked her
"A man not worthy of living." she answered, a tone of anger enveloping her voice
She recovered her weapon and put on her hat, straightening it. Removing the wet bullets, she replaced it with new ones. Still reloading, she gave an order to her lieutenant
"Lieutenant." she said
"Yes madam?"
"Assemble 5 of our best marksmen. I want them in my office at once."
"Understood, madam. May I ask why?"
She looked back at him.
"We're going monster hunting." she said and afterwards cocked her rifle
