. Cob number and grain yield
Data of cob number and yield were averaged across years, since
there was no significant interaction effect between treatments and
years (P < 0.05). The results showed similar response of maize to
topramezone applied between the two- and the eight- leaf stage.
There was no difference (P < 0.05) in the cob number for the
three topramezone application timings. All plants, BAS 65903H
treated and hand-weeded control included, produced similar cob
number (Table 3).
Topramezone application timing was not significant (P < 0.05)
for grain yield. Particularly, the topramezone treated plants
exhibited yield ranging from 9.39 to 9.96 t ha1
, no significant
different to 9.33 and 8.76 t ha1 of the pre-emergence BAS 65903H
treated plants and the hand-weeded control, respectively (Table 3)
