Electroplating is the coating of an object with a thin layer of a metal by electrolysis.
Electroplating of Steel
Steel objects are electroplated to protect the steel from corrosion and to give the object an attractive appearance. The metals used to electroplate steel objects are corrosion-resistant and shiny. They are usually low in the reactivity series. Some examples of metals used for electroplating are given in Table.
