Only 6 people came with dictionaries before the Friday midnight
deadline, so most of you were not here last week according to the
attendance. That is bad. When the teacher tells you to come and
visit, you need to do it.
I see many of you STILL don't have dictionaries. I am sad. If
you really do not need a dictionary, then you probably should be
an English major, and not in the Faculty of Informatics.
I do realize that you do not like this subject or your
instructor. However, that does not excuse you from having to
learn the material and demonstrate that knowledge on the
examinations.
Today, please remember that you may not use electronic devices
except during the breaks. I need you to concentrate on the
course material and build your speed accessing your paper
dictionaries, and that will not happen as long as you continue
to use electronic dictionaries (and surf non-course material
on your electronic devices).
Finally, let me tell you what we will work on today. Last week
we spent a long time on grammar and we'll take a break from that.
Today we will emphasize vocabulary and practical English skill.
We will use a search engine and stack overflow for this.
