Within a monastery compound, there are two main section; Phutthawat and Sangkhawat. In the area of Phutthawat, there are various buildings like the ordination hall (bot or Ubosod) That is usually considered the most important. Then there is a wihan or image hall which is used to keep the Buddha images. The building used to keep the scriptures is called a haw trai or scripture library. Other buildings are the haw rakhang or belfry and a sala kan parian or teaching hall. These buildings are for public religious services.
