Similarly, the role of the community in the care of immigrants is important. Communities can help clients (and thus providers) with communication, crisis intervention, housing, emotional and other forms of support. Nurses need to carefully assess the community and learn what strengths, resources, and talents are available. As noted, cultural and religious beliefs influence behaviors, and community groups can explain their value and meaning to the nurse.
