AR as a mixed and enhanced reality has compelling features for educational purposes; its potential and affordances can be further
extended when an AR system is designed by connecting multiple types of technologies. In this section, we identify features and affordances
of AR systems in five aspects based on research that exploits AR for educational purposes. According to the research, AR could enable (1)
learning content in 3D perspectives, (2) ubiquitous, collaborative and situated learning, (3) learners’ senses of presence, immediacy, and
immersion, (4) visualizing the invisible, and (5) bridging formal and informal learning. We discuss each aspect as follows.
