The ethanolic extracts of Pleurotus pulmonarius (phoenix oyster mushroom or grey oyster mushroom), Pleurotus ostreatus (pearl oyster mushroom or white oyster mushroom), Pleurotus djamor var. djamor (pink oyster mushroom), Pleurotus djamor var. roseus (pink oyster mushroom) and Schizophyllum commune (split gill mushroom) as shown in figures 1 – 5 were screened for their antioxidant activity by four assays named as 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay, ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) or reducing power assay, total phenolic content (TPC) assay and total flavonoid content (TFC) assay
