Whether it’s the local kid at the park or a skater you meet on a road trip, knowing you’ve made an impact on someone else’s skating is awesome. It’s funny because when you’re in your early 20s and you have an insane ego, you get angry when little kids try the tricks—or, God forbid, land the tricks—you’re doing. As you get older, though, you look back and see those kids, who are now adults, doing those tricks better than you ever did them. And then, like the wise, old sage you’ve become, you realize that it’s about something bigger.
