Malaysian university, the respondents indicated the
social media enhance students grades because
social media enhance communications and discussion
among students with their instructors.
A recent study conducted by Abbas et al
surveyed 510 medical students at our medical
school and reported a positive effect for the use of
social media on student academic performance
based on students opinions although students’
grades were not obtained in their study.
The aim of this study was to assess the impact of social media
on the academic performance and grades of second
year medical students at the College of Medicine,
University of Babylon, Iraq. To our
knowledge, this study is the first study that explores
this effect among Iraqi medical students.
