The purpose of this pilot study was to examine the feasibility
of collecting several biological measurements at
busy paramedic stations and to examine any trends in job
strain and intermediate and subclinical biological indicators
among different job groups. Our study is one of the first field
studies to concurrently examine psychological, physiological,
and subclinical pathology measures of stress and disease using
salivary biomarkers and subclinicalCVDindicators in both the
ANS and HPA axis. Results from the study will be used to help
design future larger-scaled studies.
