This objectives of the research are to study logistics activity and cost and to propose the ways of reducing of logistics costs for the Oil Palm Industry in Krabi. The data were collected from 216 Oil Palm agriculturists and 53 middlemen or cooperative (Lan Tay). The results of research revealed that the logistics activities of agriculturists can be divided into 3 activities. Activity 1 is the material handling or the harvesting and moving of the Oil Palm crops. This activity can mostly be done by hiring the worker at the percentage of 83.33. Activity 2 is upon the transporting of Oil Palm crops that can be finished by the ones who hire to transfer oil palm crop at the percentage of 50.46. The round-trip distance for transporting mostly is about 6-10 kilometers. The percentage of 66.67 of agriculturists have chosen to sell their crops to the middleman at Lan Tay. The pick-up trucks were used for transporting both by agriculturists themselves and hiring others at the percentage of 90.65 and 100 respectively. Activity 3 is upon the communication in the logistics cycle. The logistics activities of the middleman or cooperative (Lan Tay) for operating aredivided into 5 activities: 1) purchasing and procurement, 2) material handling, 3) warehouse and storage management, 4) the transportation, 5) communication activity in the logistics cycle. For warehouse and storage management as the feature of Lan Tay which is a wide open space and roofless that affects to the weight of oil palm to become lower than the actual amount. For the transportation that has shown at the percentage of 86.79 by themselves. The percentage of 41.51 of middlemen or cooperative have transported their crops at the distance of 1-50 kilometers. The middlemen or cooperative have used 10 wheel truck trailers to transport their crops at the percentage of 56.60. The survey on total logistics costs of Oil Palm industry in Krabi reported finding at 0.6409 Baht/kilogram that can be separated into the logistics costs of agriculturists at 0.5168 Baht/kilogram. The logistics costs of the middleman or cooperative at 0.1241 Baht/kilogram. The recommendations for agriculturists who have the plantation area less than 10 Rai and 3 – wheel tow motorcycle to transport their crops that they should adjust their forms of transportation to the outsourcing of the transportation. For the agriculturists who have the medium or large area of plantation should transport their crops themselves. Thus the pick-up trucks are appropriate for the plantation area less than 50 Rai and the 6-wheel trucks are appropriate for the plantation area more than 50 Rai. The reducing of transportation cost is the reason why the agriculturists who have the small plantation area should join the group. For the middlemen and cooperatives, they should transport their crops themselves so that the 6-wheel trucks are appropriate for the purchasing amount which less than 10 tons a day and the 10-wheel trucks are appropriate for the purchasing amount which more than 25 tons a day. They should collaborate with other middlemen and cooperatives to set the standard of cooperation.
