Two types of films were tested: polypropylene 40-mm heatsealable
film and low density polyethylene 14-mm stretch film.
Both films were micro-perforated to allow gases exchange and
therefore mushrooms respiration. Preliminary experiments
showed that the shelf-life of sliced mushrooms lasted slightly
longer when using heat-sealable film, likely as a consequence of the
larger headspace and the lack of direct contact between the produce
and the film
