Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is consumed as a vegetable
and used as a raw material for processed products. It is an important
vegetable crop and rich in vitamin A and C that are useful to
human health (Grierson and Kader, 1986). High inputs of chemical
fertilizers and pesticides considerably increase production costs,
and these inputs might have potential negative effects on the environment
and human health. This is resulting in researchers
and producers seeking alternative techniques for tomato
production.
