Similarly to what happens in the conventional plates, nanostructures undergo a significant morphology change, due to the
conversion reactions (sulphation/desulphation) occurring during
the charge/discharge cycles. Morphology change led to the formation of very spongy and non-compact meso-porous structures,
characterized by a considerable presence of macro-voids, which
ensure the penetration of the electrolyte also in the inner electrode
areas
