In terms of future research directions, subsequent
studies should be attempted to examine
the relationships between EI and components
of TFL, longitudinally. Due to a small
sample size of the current study, future research
would benefit from a large sample size,
using a variety of samples (Brown, Bryant, &
Reilly, 2006). The structural equations model
(SEM), which requires large samples, generates
more reliable conclusions in terms of the
construct validity of the instrument used. Prospective
designs would allow for examination
of whether EI is predictive of the components
of TFL. More research is needed to
test the relationship between EI and the components
of other leadership paradigms, such
as transactional leadership, situational
leadership, authentic leadership, and team
leadership
