The objective of this paper is to propose a hybrid order picking
and packing algorithm called sequential picking to replace
independent picking and packing functions of a put system in
hope to eliminate the extra storage buffers and reduce operating
time.
The remainder of this paper is organized as follows. In Section 2,
we review warehouse management and order picking approach literatures.
The proposed hybrid order picking and packing algorithm
is presented in Section 3. Section 4 presents the implementation
result to validate the proposed algorithm. In the final section, we
make a summary of our study, discuss the limitations, and suggest
future researches.
