A total of 98 patients completed the questionnaires. In
the analyses, it was found that eight patients had no
COPD; they had a GOLD stage of 0 with an FEV1/FVC
ratio >70%. Therefore, these patients were excluded
from the analyses. The sample characteristics of the 90 patients are presented in Table 2. The mean age of the patients in the study sample was 65, with a standard
deviation (SD) of 9.0. Forty-six percent of study sample
was women. Most patients (n = 60, 67%) had moderate
COPD (GOLD grade II). Half of the patients were retired
(51%). In the non-retired population (n = 44), 20 patients
(22% from the total population) had full-time jobs. Most
of the patients had a medium educational level (62%).
