The use of pesticides and veterinary drugs (VDs) in food industries is widespread, and they are utilised to fight against plagues [1] and treat diseases that could affect animals [2]. However, their fraudulent use can result in the presence of residues in the final animal products [3, 4], which involves several problems to public health such as the increased risk of allergies, the development of antibioticresistant bacteria and harmful effects on the human system (e.g. carcinogenic effects) [5, 6].
