in view of the protective effects of Allium sativum against MeHg-induced
toxicity in embryotoxicity (Lee et al., 1999) and the involvement
of ADA activity in cellular immune response, the objective of
the present study was to investigate the effect of MeHg (0.05–
10 lM) exposure on ADA activity in LS in vitro and to evaluate
the efficacy of GaE to normalize altered biochemical parameters
indicative of cell damage. Moreover, we evaluated another antioxidant
agent (NAC) in an attempt clarify, at least partially, the
molecular mechanisms related with MeHg-induced inhibition of
ADA activity and cell viability of LS using two tests, MTT and AB
dye.
