This exclusive HD video interview with Thai Lion Air's Director of Flight Operations, Captain Voravuth Vongkositkul - or Captain Tony as he is more often called - was filmed on 3 December 2013 at Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok, Thailand.
Thai Lion Air launches its first ever flight on 4 December 2013, commencing scheduled services between the Thai capital and the second largest city in Thailand - Chiang Mai.
Being part of the mammoth Indonesian Lion Group means that this is a very serious rival to not just the major low cost airlines in Thailand, but also most other major airlines in the region. In this interview, you will learn why Thai Lion Air chose Bangkok - Chiang Mai for its first route, how it plans to expand the route, what other routes it is thinking of launching from Chiang Mai - a city in Northern Thailand, which is rapidly becoming a major aviation hub, and how many flights per day it expects to offer travellers on the route within two years.
We ask Captain Tony what differentiates Thai Lion Air from the other low cost airlines and whether there is room in the market place for another airline. You will also discover what their business model is, and where they will be getting their ancillary revenue from and much, much more.
Thai Lion Air is a very serious, and welcome, new contender to the Thai and regional Asia Pacific aviation market. With double daily flights to Chiang Mai launching from Bangkok on 4 December, and Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta most likely next, it is an airline to keep a very close eye on.
More to come.
