ABSTRACT
This paper begins with an overview of the development of education in Thailand, with particular emphasis on development under the successive 5-year national development plant since 1964. Government policies and priorities for education are outlined, as are key aspects of the current education provision. Both formal and non-formal education are considered, with emphasis on the promotion of literacy . the achievement of education for all requires the full effort and cooperation from all parties, and a number of strategies are outlined for the expansion od educational opportunity involving the government, community organization and the private sector.
