The experiment was announced by email using a web-based recruiting system. Upon registration participants received a
link to a web page with a series of questions, which they were required to fill out at least 24 h prior to the start of the experiment.
The collected information consisted of general demographic data, the STAI trait scale, the sensation seeking scale, and a
series of questions to measure risk attitude, as discussed above. To assure anonymity responses were linked to behavior in the
experiment through a password that each subject had to choose. Participants were required to sign up for two sessions, 2 days
apart. These sessions took place either on a Monday and Wednesday, or on a Tuesday and Thursday. Participants were also
informed that their earnings from the experiment would be transferred to their bank account after completion of the
experiment.
