The assessment cycle is the period of time from the date of an on-site assessment to the date of the subsequent on- site reassessment. In order to avoid a lapse in accreditation, reassessment should occur according to the reassessment and conformance monitoring schedule provided to the forensic service provider by ASCLD/LAB. Generally, reassessment will occur at a four-year interval during the same month as the previous assessment. A forensic service provider seeking to renew accreditation should submit a completed application, with all required attachments and the conformance file, six months prior to the established reassessment month. The reassessment process follows the same process as described in Part 3 – The Assessment Process. The decision to renew the accreditation of the forensic service provider must occur prior to the current expiration date in order to avoid a lapse in accreditation.
