The present study investigates the influence of different clay types and filler contents on the thermal and dynamic mechanical behavior of PBAT for future applications in food packaging. It is found by XRD and SEM that for organomodified MMT and bentonite, intercalation with partial exfoliation and only few remaining agglomerates is achieved. By contrast, natural MMT and bentonite could not be separated and show a very poor dispersion within the PBAT matrix. TGA analysis reveals that the addition of all clay fillers leads to a slight improvement of thermal stability.
