Table 1 shows the effect of gamma radiation on the chlorophyll contents in sainfoin. The contents of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and total chlorophyll in the leaves of irradiated sainfoin seedlings grew significantly (P < 0.05) with the increasing radiation dose. The differences between the contents of chlorophyll a in the seedlings irradiated to 400, 500 and 600 Gy were not statistically significant, but they were statistically significantly different from its content in the leaves of the
unirradiated seedlings. The highest chlorophyll a content was observed after irradiation to 600 Gy (28% greater than that of the control).
