Five out of 159 participants were lost to follow-up. There- fore, 154 participants were analysed in the present study. Only data from the first 6 weeks were used for two subjects who discontinued treatment due to health conditions (not related to knee OA). Only data from the first 12 weeks were used for four subjects who underwent knee surgery after treatment.
Baseline characteristics are shown in Table 1. On average, the participants attended 21 out of 24 treatment sessions and performed home exercises on 4 days/week. Table 2 shows the course of outcome measures and determinants during the 38-week study period. Over the 38-week study period, aver- age improvements were 34%, 30% and 8% for NRS pain, WOMAC physical function and get-up-and-go test, respec- tively; and 23% and 36% for upper leg muscle strength and knee joint proprioception, respectively. At 38 weeks, all measures differed significantly compared with baseline scores.
