At harvest time, samples of ten plants were taken at random
from each sub-plot to determine the number of pods per plant, 100
seed weight and harvest index. Harvest index was calculated as a
ratio between seed weight and total plant weight and expressed
as percentages. Seed yield was determined from inter three rows
of each plot by harvesting, threshing and weighing. Seed yield was
then expressed in Mg ha−1.
Jackson (1973). Potassium was determined using a flame photometer
as described by Jackson (1973).
