The Phase 1 and 2 diets including 400 g field pea/kg contained 46 and 71% more crude fibre, and 31 and 37% more ADF,respectively, than the control diets without field pea (Table 1). Field pea provided 46% more crude fibre and 33% more ADFthan SBM (Table 2). Field pea in the present study contained 51% less CP, 45% less Lys, 44% less chemically-defined availableLys and 27% less phytate than SBM. Field pea contained 36% less tannins and 50% less TIA than SBM.Increasing inclusion of field pea linearly reduced (P<0.001; Table 3) the CATTD of DM, CP and GE and DE values in Phase 1diets, and linearly reduced (P<0.05) the CATTD of CP and DE values in Phase 2 diets. From 0 to 400 g field pea/kg, the CATTDof CP reduced 7% in Phase 1 and 1% in Phase 2 diets. Increasing inclusion of field pea quadratically reduced (P<0.001) thecalculated NE value by 0.4 MJ/kg for Phase 1 diets, and linearly reduced (P<0.001) the calculated NE value by 0.2 MJ/kg forPhase 2 diets.
