Botrytis cinerea, the causal agent of gray mold or botrytis bunch
rot on grapes, is responsible for significant economic damage in
vineyards worldwide depending on the environmental conditions
of temperature and humidity. In general, Botrytis spp. is also an
important postharvest problem for fruits and vegetables in cold
storage and subsequent shipment, because the fungus is able to
grow effectively at temperatures just above freezing (Droby and
Lichter, 2004).
