A child usually start this training at the age of six, although in some cases it is put off until he is seven. At about seven o'clock each morning expect fridays and feast days, the Iman joins the gathered children, read a short passage from the Koran, and listens to the children recite it in unison. In general the session proceeds in this manner, with children arriving and leaving intermittently. While many children leave sometime between eight and nine o'clock in order to get to the village school, the Iman continues as long as any child is left.As a matter of fact,he encourages children to stay on during the morning hours, and usually a group of five or six boys will be found reciting the Koran until almost noon.Another session is held from four o'clock, when the village school closes, until six. However, as in the morning session, the Iman encourages the children to attend the afternoon session for a longer period. He is ready to begin by two o'clock. The number of years that a child is involved in learning the Koran varies tremendously according to how much time the child devotes to it each day,and how diligently the studies.
