In both strains, higher nutrient levels yielded higher values of
maximum cell count in suspension. For example, the peaks of
growth curves were 8.7, 7.8 and 6.5 log10 CFU/ml in unadjusted
samples of 5.0%, 1.0% and 0.1% skim milk for L. paracasei, respectively
(Fig. 2B). The same phenomenon was observed in the case of
adjusted samples using L. paracasei (Fig. 2B) and samples using
B. licheniformis (Fig. 2A).
