Police say the man caught on CCTV beating a stranger in the Lat Phrao area, whom they know only
as Theerapong, was regarded as being mentally ill and would assault men who looked at him.
FM 91 Traffic Pro radio station quoted Pol Col Chettha Sawarngsook, chief of Wang Thonglang
police station, as saying that the man was aged 32 and was homeless. He was known to wander
around the area where he attacked a man in a yellow shirt and almost started a fight with another
passerby soon after. The assault was captured on CCTV.

An investigation found Mr Theerapong had seen doctors at a Chiang Rai hospital for his mental
illness but had not received treatment for a long time.
Pol Col Chettha said that according to a witness, Mr Theerapong would assault any man who looked
into his face. But if the victim was woman he would show his genitals.
He said police were looking for him and believe he was still in Lat Phrao district or nearby.
No one had filed a police complaint against him yet, he added
