On Apr 22, 2009, the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his Budget statement announced a number of changes to excise duties. In the ONS's short article to the National Statistics Web site, it is estimated that changes to duties announced in the Budget would in total add 0.25 percentage points to the one-month change in the consumer price index, if duty changes were passed on in full to consumers as soon as they came into effect. For the retail price index, it is estimated that this year's Budget will add 0.28 percentage points to the one-month change.
