4. Conclusions
This work investigated the potential of duckweed, a widely
available lignocellulosic aquatic plant material as a feedstock for
biogas production. The C/N ratio of duckweed was found to be 9.5
as compared to 22.7 of cattle dung, which necessitated co-digestion
of duckweed with cattle dung for maintaining the optimum C:N
ratio of 25e30:1 for efficient anaerobic digestion. Based on the total
gas production volume during a HRT of 55 days, the optimum
mixing for co-digestion of DWand CD has been found to be at 1:1
ratio.
