Summary
A dove flies through seven girls’ windows with a rose attached. A small scroll, which comes along with the rose, is an invitation to a secluded manor, secretly hidden in another dimension. A promise is mentioned in the invitation that their wish will be granted by a Witch. Out of curiosity, the girls venture out of their homes and to the manor. There, the Witch tells them that they must kill each other and the last survivor’s wish will be granted. The Witch’s current body rejects her soul and she must find the fittest maiden to provide a new body; thus, she arranges a game of life and death for the seven girls. Shocked and appalled, most of the girls attempt to escape, but they are stuck in the dimension. The Witch then leaves her Henchman and Butler to leave clues and watch over their assigned women. The Butler falls in love with with one of the women they are watching over, who dies shortly after the madness begins. She was a Dancer who went off on her own to try and survive or find girls she could trust, thinking the other girls weren’t even capable of murder; but she ended up getting cornered by the Princess and Actress, and being killed against the piano by the Princess. Upset after he finds the Dancer’s lifeless body and finally realizing how precious life is, the Butler attempts to rebel against the Henchman who is in love with the Witch, and the Witch herself to get back his lover and rescue the girls. With his lover dead, there was one girl left he trusted, the Beggar, who is in love with him, though she hides this, knowing he loved another, not wanting to upset him. He leaves hints and notes secretly for the girls that he trusts will follow them and will not betray his plan. There are a couple of girls though, that do intend to use their wish and kill off some of the other girls.
Later, there were a pair of sisters, the Older Sister a con woman and the Younger Sister a prostitute. The pair is attacked by the Stripper, who is killed by the two in trying to protect one another. In the panic of the moment, the lights go out and the two sisters get separated. The Younger Sister is cornered on a balcony by the Princess and Actress who then proceed to stab the girl in the chest and throw her lifeless corpse off the balcony, not knowing the Older Sister had witnessed the murder. In a devastated rage, the remaining Sister attempts to slash the Princess with her scissorhand, but the Actress takes the attack. The Princess is devastated by the murder of her childhood friend, the Actress, and when the Older Sister sees the pain she’s inflicted she’s mortified, thinking of herself as a monster. In turn, the Princess stabs the remaining Sister in the chest in vengeance for her lost friend. With all of the girls except the Beggar and the Princess eliminated, the Beggar and Butler go to find the Princess. The Princess is obsessed with cutting people open to see their stories. The Beggar convinces the Princess to cut herself open so she could see her own story, and thus the Princess killed herself off in a mad quest to see her own story.
The Witch keeps the souls of the dead girls in her staff and uses their corpses as obstacles for the girls to get through. When the final girl survives, the witch appears with both henchmen in front of her. The Butler stands beside the Henchman, who is obviously smitten by the Witch’s presence. As the Witch and the Henchman lower their guards, the Butler grabs her staff as the Beggar runs to the Witch and stabs her in the heart with her own staff that he was holding for her. Left to die, the Witch groans in pain as the Butler and the Beggar run off from the crumbling manor. The Henchman holds the lifeless Witch tightly in his arms as the escapees leave the manor.
The girls all wake up sitting around the table filled with food and notice they are at a banquet. The Witch and Henchman are no longer there and the Butler disguises as a waiter. He bids the girls a nice meal as he makes his way to his lover who does not recognise him. He believes none of the women remembers what had happened, and accepts it. However, the Beggar who loved him remembers. He tells the Dancer that he would like to talk to her again sometime, knowing he must start over, and she nods with a smile. The Beggar watches sadly from afar as the Butler walks with his love. Tears trails down her face as the sadness of losing the one who made her happy ate away at her, but she took slight comfort in knowing the one she loved was happy. Between the collision of new beginnings and departures, pure love marks the end of a lost tale.
