In doing agriculture, people in Sukhothai knew how to construct dams, (the term used on the stone inscription was “Saridapongse” : สรีดภงส์ ) or Pra Ruang Dam (ทำนบพระร่วง) directing water from the hill through canals and kept it in the town ponds (สระตระพังเงิน สระตระพังทอง) for the palace and public use.
For arts & crafts, Sukhothai was noted for its chinaware or ceramics (เครื่องสังคโลก) which they learned from 500 Chinese potters.
200 kilns (the term used in the stone inscription was “Tao Thuriang” : เตาทุเรียง) were found at archaeological kiln sites in the Sukhothai kingdoms.
Shipwreck cargoes have revealed that Sukhothai ceramics were exported to other countries, presumably Malaysia, Borneo, Java, Indonesia and Japan.
