They
exposed an already developed electroactive biofilm to an iron-rich
medium. Once iron reduction took place, they used such DMRBenriched
biomass as inoculum for BESs. As expected, the electrochemical
performances were improved for the BESs inoculated with
previous iron-enriched biomass (power density: 226 mW/m2,
coulombic efficiency: 34%), that was higher than the original electroactive
biofilm (209 mW/m2
, 23%). Unfortunately, no details were
presented regarding the microbial selection occurred therein.
