It has
gained in prominence as a result of its highly successful
application in the control of poliomyelitis and measles
throughout Central and South America and another
successful example for the application of this strategy is
the United Kingdom, where, during November 1994,
children aged 5–16 years were offered a single vaccination
pulse, in the form of a combined measles and rubella (MR)
vaccine (Shulgin et al., 1998).
