OMESTAY STUDENT GOOD CONDUCT GUIDELINES:
▪ Meet all personal expenses for travel, entertainment, medical expenses and other personal incidental costs.
▪ Request permission to use telephone and/or internet. Pay for all telephone calls and internet, if available.
▪ Respect and adhere to guidelines/rules for living in the household as given by your host family.
▪ Keep your room clean and tidy at all times and observe household courtesies whilst in homestay.
▪ Offer to help with minor household chores such as occasional washing up.
▪ Be considerate and keep noise to a minimum after 9.00 pm.
▪ Respect your host family and ask your host before inviting friends over.
▪ Advise your host family about social activities and when you will be home for meals.
▪ Pay for any damage to family property (if you are responsible for the damage).
▪ Keep all valuables, money, passport and airline tickets in a safe place.
▪ Behave appropriately and be prepared to participate in reasonable family activities.
▪ Respect and be aware that cultural differences and beliefs of your host family may differ from yours.
▪ Communicate with your host family on a day to day basis. You should be open about your needs/wants, for
example, types of food you like or do not like; or need to make a phone call late in the night.
▪ Inform BISS Homestay - Mobile: 0433 024 103 Email: homestay@biss.com.au immediately of any concerns of
your host family’s health or welfare which may arise in your homestay environment.
▪ Be aware and abide by the laws of Australia, eg, wear a bicycle helmet or no smoking in certain places.
▪ Please use water and electricity wisely in homestay. Take short showers and switch off lights or electrical
appliances when not in use.
Your host family reserves the right not to host your stay after 4 weeks if you do not observe household courtesies or respect your
host family. If you require another homestay, you will need to submit a new application and pay a new placement fee.
Communication is the key to a happy stay
Talk to your host family if you are not sure about anything, feel homesick or simply need help
Host families prefer students to talk to them if there is a problem so that they can assist further
Students are expected to adjust to Australian life style whilst in homestay
Please observe household courtesies and respect your host family

AIRPORT RECEPTION: A representative will meet you at the Brisbane International airport 45 mins after your
plane has landed. Please turn LEFT as you enter the Arrival Hall and look for a person
holding a sign with your name in English.
If you arrive on schedule and cannot find the driver, ring 0433 024 103 immediately or go to Visitors
Information Desk and ask for assistance to ring us. Please do not leave the airport without contacting us.
You must notify us of your new arrival details if you miss your plane or changed your flight to Brisbane.
If you fail to show up or notify us of any changes or cancellation, full fees will be charged for no show.
Extra fees apply for late notification of changes or delay; or you may need to take a taxi to homestay.
