Rain
The poem 'Rain' was written by a man that goes by the name of Shel Silverstein. He was born on Sept. 25th -May 10th 1999 at the age of 68, because of a major heart attack. Silverstein was born and raised in a Jewish family. Silverstein wasn't just an American poet, but Silverstein was a cartoonist, screenwriter, and he also published children books like 'The Giving Tree' one of his best sellers and one of his most successful work.
Shel Silverstein
In my opinion, what I think this poem best represents is feelings or thoughts. As I read throughout the poem it gave off the feeling of a character inside the poem getting to see the world around them as they wake up and how complex life can actually be. In the poem the character was speaking crazy and how he wasn't the same since rain was in his head; I think the rain represents the negativity in life and how it can actually slow a person down. The part where it stated "if I do a handstand I might overflow" could mean that if he was experiencing things in a different perspective he might overflow himself with thoughts and overthink everything.
The Poems Meaning
The way this poem is written and it's style is that it can have a different meaning to everybody who is reading it, this is what I think makes the poem even more unique than it already is. It's such a simple written poem but can actually test the way you think of it and for what the message the poem is indicating can actually be.
Style
I chose to use a drip of water to represent the poem for obvious reasons. The poem itself is self-explanatory to the drawing. This choice was most suitable for the poem, and it is also attention grabbing to the way the rain drop was actually illustrated because there is a highlight over the drip to give the illustration more impact to the audience. I personally thought this was the best choice to represent the poem.
