Toourknowledge, onlythreestudieshaveassessedthe effects of listening to music on UN. Hommel et al. (1990) first reported that nonverbal auditory stimuli, such as classical music and white noise, significantly improved drawing performance in stroke patients with UN. They proposed that nonverbal auditory stimuli typically activate the right hemisphere and increase arousal, which contributes to the improvement of neglect. They did not, however, differentiate between the effects of classical music and white noise. In addition, only one nonstandardized drawing test was used for evaluating UN, which may not completely represent the heterogeneous symptoms of UN.
