This article attempts to examine the state of occupational hazards and other forms of
risks in a Japanese electronic company in Sama Jaya Industrial Zone in Kuching in
the East Malaysian state of Sarawak. It also attempts to gauge whether the employees
serving in the company frequently used any form of personal protective equipment
while performing their jobs at the workplace. In this regard respondents were asked to
respond to a self-administered questionnaire. The findings show that less than one
third of the employees wear their personal protective equipments. Employees in this
company are exposed to different form of occupational hazards which includes noise
pollution, ergonomic and workers are also exposed to chemicals which are used to
mix raw materials to form the slurry.
