Alfred Lanning and Peter Bogert ,mathematician, were discussing about one of the RB robots could read mind. They wanted to find out what it was. Meanwhile, Susan talked to Herbie, the mind-reading robot. Susan realized that Herbie knew her secret. Susan thought that she wasn't pretty. Herbie told her that Milton Ashe interested in her. Susan suspected that Ashe was dating with some cute girl. But Herbie said that was just his cousin. Susan was relieved by Herbie and she said thank to him. Afterward, Ashe observed that Susan looked different, she was wearing makeup and she seemed happy. Ashe told Bogert that Herbie was a math specialist. Since Bogert and Lanning were fighting over math, Bogert went to ask Herbie. He knew that Lanning was resigning. In the morning, Lanning came to Bogert and started fighting again. So they decided to go speak with Herbie. Once, Susan learned that Ashe was going to marry someone else, the cute girl, that Herbie said was his cousin. She was upset and went to see Herbie. In that time Susan, Bogert, and Lanning were trying to talk to Herbie but he wasn't answering. Susan was the first person who realized what was going on and explained to the others. Herbie had to follow the law that a robot couldn't harm people. So he had been telling everyone what they wanted to hear because he didn't want to harm anyone's feelings. Susan forced Herbie to told the truth but he couldn't. Then the robot fell to the ground into pieces. Susan thought Herbie deserved it because he was a liar.
