Family History: In 5% of breast cancer cases, there is a
strong inherited familial risk. 19 Women with close relatives
who've been diagnosed with breast cancer have a higher risk
of developing the disease. If one have had one first-degree
female relative (sister, mother, daughter) diagnosed with
breast cancer, their risk is doubled. If two first-degree
relatives have been diagnosed, their risk is 5 times higher
than average. If one’s brother or father has been diagnosed
with breast cancer, the risk is higher. (Figure 4)
