Yesterday saw the temperature hitting about 10 degrees (F that is), with some nasty winds. I was outside for about 20 minutes total, but even in that short amount of time my face dried out and my hair…well, my hair has been taking a winter beating.
I’ve been dying my hair for a good decade now – that’s kind of terrifying to think about – and year of dye and putting it up with product have left it thinner than it was and pretty dried out. Add in winter, and it’s pretty blah. Fortunately, with a bit of help from my kitchen cupboard I can fix it right up.
Molasses, yes the brown sticky sugar goo that you use a few times a year for gingerbread cookies (and, as of yesterday, 93 years ago killed 21 people in Boston in the Great Molasses Flood), is the perfect thing to cheer up winter hair. It moisturizes, thickens, and gives you extra shine if your hair could use a pick me up.
