The population identified for the study consisted
of right holders (children 18 years and younger) and
duty bearers (adults such as teachers, parents, social
workers, and others with a responsibility to realize
children’s rights) in a specific municipality district.
The nonprobability sample was composed of 400
right holders 18 years and younger and 100 duty
bearers. A total of 25 focus groups (12 with duty
bearers and 13 with right holders), selected from the
total population of duty bearers and right holders was
also included. Ten villages, representative of the
area, were further sampled for the purpose of scoping
and surveying. Organized community groups were
actively involved in the sampling process by mobilizing
the community to participate in the research
and identifying specific groups, such as care groups
in the community.
